Why people infected with HIV are disengaged from pre-ART care

People infected with HIV and who were either eligible or ineligible for antiretroviral treatment (ART) reported socioeconomic barriers as a major reason for disengaging from care. Sierra Leone is one of a number of countries that have not implemented universal ART where loss to follow-up remains a problem. (G. Rutherford & S. Weiser, CAPS/PRC affiliates)
